The historic Elan is currently owned by former British Touring Car star and classic car collector Steve Soper and could sell for over £60,000. The Elan is built to an advanced specification with extra disc brakes fitted to the model.
An independent suspension had also been set up to compromise ride quality and improve the handling.
Gary Dunne, Sales Controller for Silverstone auctions said the model is a “huge investment opportunity” for collectors.
He said: “We are proud to be offering such a special car from our vendor Steve Soper.
“He is one of the greatest drivers all round, he competed five times at Le Mans, four times at Bathurst 1000 and many more.
“This is a huge investment opportunity and as Spring is here, classic events are beckoning – let’s go!”
The car’s incredible value has been maintained due to one of the most comprehensive history files seen by auction experts.
Original documents help maintain the piece as collectors can see every step of the vehicle’s history eliminating the risk of hidden issues.
The car will come with dozens of invoices and service records so new owners can get a full picture of its history.

The cars V5C document shows the model has just four previous owners who all kept the car in good condition.
Experts at Silverstone Auctions have also praised the vehicle’s doors and panels which they said was the best of any Elan “ever seen by us”.
They added: “It’s one of the most original Lotus Elans that we have ever seen.
“The condition of the car is also outstanding with the best door gaps and overall panel fitment of any Elan ever seen by us.
“All original tools, jack and service books/handbook are present and just four owners shown from new on the V5C; all of them keeping this car for extended periods and clearly enjoying the experience.
“They say the best is never the cheapest.
“This Elan Sprint drophead convertible is simply the best we have ever seen and represents a fantastic investment opportunity with outstanding provenance, from known ownership and in a completely ready-to-use condition.
Silverstone Auctions has set a guide price of between £58,000 and £65,000 for the model.
