Volvo led the automotive world in safety innovations for decades, and so it makes sense that the sturdy 740 sedan would get a magazine advertisement like this one for the United States. The driving world, it is a bumper-car game in which everyone loses!

This advertisement wouldn’t have been so effective in the 740’s homeland, where I’ve seen from personal experience that nearly all drivers are really skilled. Interestingly, the 740’s predecessor, the 240, stayed in production for a year past its descendant.
