In his New Year’s speech Boris Johnson said Brexit will see a revival of the nation’s “power of independent thought and action” and vowed the new freedoms would “spread hope and opportunity to every part of UK”.
In more tangible reasons for optimism Liz Truss is putting together an impressive toll of post-Brexit trade deals.
But there are many issues still to be ironed out including problems with the Northern Ireland protocol and a series of red tape issues holding back trade across the border with the EU.
