Lucia Taboada, flight attendant and founder of travel blog diarioazafata.com, has been flying the skies for years. She shared with Express.co.uk the most bizarre situations she has seen and the worst kind of passengers a stewardess can find onboard a flight.

Lucia explained: “The worst kind, without a doubt, are the drunk passengers that turn into unruly passengers.

“Some people are really scared of flying and they panic before a flight.

“They think that drinking before boarding the plane will help them sleep and have a better flight.

“The problem, really, are the ones that drink for fun and board the plane to have a party onboard and disrupt other passengers.

“They even get violent if we refuse to serve them more drinks during the flight,” she explained.

Lucia went on to share some other surreal situations she sees with passengers on a daily basis.

“I started flying in 2004 so I’ve seen a lot.

“On one occasion, after going through the cabin with the service trolley we found a man, who previously had rejected the onboard food, cutting Spanish ham with a huge knife.

“It was 10cm approximately. Obviously, we said he couldn’t use that on the plane and that we had to take it away from him.

“He was really surprised by that but he cooperated. The weirdest thing is how he managed to go through security with that knife.”

She went on: “Getting a pedicure on the tray table is a thing.

“Or when passengers go to use the bathroom barefoot…” she said.

Dan Air, cabin crew and founder of flight attendant blog Confessions of a Trolley Dolly, also shared his least preferred type of passenger.

“Apart from the obvious, the drunks, the stags and hen parties, the worst kind of passengers have to be the moaners.

“There are certain things that are simply out of our control.

“If the plane is delayed due to weather or a technical issue. If we’ve run out of the food or drink option you want. We can only apologise for these issues but we can’t change them and taking your frustrations out on us isn’t on,” he said.

“People have REAL issues in this world.

“Remember that you are privileged just to even be onboard an aircraft,” Dan said.

“These type of passengers would also be the worst passengers I’ve had.

“Thankfully in my 16 years of flying I’ve been pretty fortunate in terms of disruptive passenger events, touch wood,” he admitted.
