Two alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel have been busted in Mexico – and were reportedly carrying a golden gun at the time of their arrest.
Rodolfo Moreno and Marco Munguía were arrested in the commercial area of Avenida Presidente Mazaryk , near Lamartine Street in Mexico City.
The pair were allegedly carrying around five kilos of cocaine as well as the deadly golden weapon – which looks like something straight out of the famous James Bond movie.
According to police, the pair were driving a BMW vehicle when they noticed the officer and immediately sped up and then tried to change direction.
"It should be noted that according to a cross-check of information, it was learned that the detainees are originally from Sinaloa and Sonora, respectively, and the largest of them apparently is related to a criminal cell that operates in that state," said the police report.
Police believe the weapon was dipped in molten gold.
If they are found to be members of the Sinaloa Cartel, it would be the first known presence of gang members in Mexico's capital in more than two years, Infobae reports.
Last year Dr Robert J Bunker, Director of Research & Analysis, C/O Futures, LLC, said he believes the Sinaloa Cartel – led by Chapo's sons and former partner Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada after his imprisonment last year – is now operating in the shadows of The Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

He told the Daily Star: "The federal Mexican forces have far more military capacity and firepower than the cartels.
"The issue is that they are stretched thin across the county containing the 'criminal insurgency' taking place and now having to respond to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in Mexico."
He went on: "The CJNG presently appears to be a greater force than the Sinaloa Cartel throughout Mexico and overseas is now eclipsing it.
"Still, the Sinaloa Cartel is stronger in some of its core territories such as Culiacan and extended regions."
The Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) has become the country’s dominant gang and trafficks huge quantities of drugs into the US.
Daily Star reported last week that self-defence militias are waging war against Mexico’s most powerful cartel and bravely trying to reclaim seized territory.
