Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on Auckland’s Upper Harbour Motorway.
The crash happened on State Highway 18 near the Greenhithe Road overbridge.
St John said four ambulance vehicles were sent to the scene after they received reports of a crash at 10.10am.
One person has been treated and the victim is in a critical condition, St John said.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency said the highway is now closed, eastbound, between Tauhinu Road and Albany Highway.
“[It’s] likely to remain closed for some time as police undertake an investigation,” NZTA said.
Those travelling for essential purposes in the area are told to allow for extra time, as a detour has been put in place.
Police have been approached for comment.
