Bengal cat breaks into kitchen cupboard – but mission goes wrong at last moment

A cat has been filmed sneakily breaking into a kitchen cupboard only to be left humiliated when it badly misjudged the final step of the mission Impossible-style stunt.

In the hilarious clip, uploaded on TikTok by user @ashka187, a Bengal cat climbs onto a kitchen counter and balances on its back legs as it tries to open a cupboard.

Using its paws hooked around the handles, the smart cat patiently works the cupboard door open – but is met with a nasty surprise.

The sudden opening has triggered an avalanche of food to come crashing down on top of the cat.

Unbalanced by a bag of onions, the adventurous feline is sent tumbling to the floor.

Luckily, cats are experts at falling and it wasn't a very high counter.

The footage has been watched more than 100,000 times on the video-sharing app and viewers joked that the cat's painstaking effort was really not worth it.

"Crime don’t pay," quipped one viewer.

Posting crying and laughing emojis, another fan wrote: "All that hard work and all he gets is onions."

A third said: "They’re so mischievous it’s unbelievable my Bengal is the same."

"Genius deserves a treat for all that effort," commented someone else.

Bengal cats are characterised as being a highly intelligent breed and its plush leopard-like coat has made it increasingly popular with pet owners.

The breed was made using hybrids of the spotted Egyptian Mau with the wild Asian leopard cat.

Meanwhile, a "lonely" Dachshund became best friends with a Bengal cat and now the pair spend their days playing together, as seen in this funny video.

And a fit and active Bengal cat was recorded "mocking" her overweight feline friend by running laps in his exercise wheel while he sat on the sidelines.
