Howard Altman, Managing Editor of the Military Times, tweeted this evening: “Senior al-Qaeda leader, Salim Abu-Ahmad, was killed in a U.S. airstrike near Idlib, Syria, on Sept. 20, @CENTCOM tells me. He was responsible for planning, funding, & approving trans-regional AQ attacks.
“There are no indications of civilian casualties as a result of the strike.”
Mr Altman’s tweet appears to confirm what US Central Command claimed following the strike on September 20.
