Bomb squad descend on row of shops with major road sealed off

Bomb squad teams have been dispatched to a major road in Manchester.

Police have sealed off a stretch of Barlow Moor Road in Chorlton, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Emergency services responded in the early hours of Sunday morning, with fire crews and a Royal Logistics Corps Bomb Disposal van currently at the scene.

One resident said he heard two "huge" bangs last night around 3am.

The nature of the incident is not yet clear.
