Eight camels and llama took the phrase a nighttime stroll literally.
The animals were discovered walking the streets of Madrid in the middle of the night after escaping from a circus, police have said.
Quiros Circus, their owner, claimed the bizarre escape was 'sabotage' by animal rights activists.
The furry creatures were seen walking around at approximately 5am local time in the southern district of Carabanchel.
They were found not far from where the circus, their home, is based.
Police stayed nearby, took care of them so they could be returned "safe and sound".
Mati Munoz, Circus manager, told AFP the electric fence around the animals' enclosure had been cut.
He blamed animal activists who he claimed protested against the circus every year.
Munoz added he was relieved the llama and Bactrian camels, which have two humps and thick shaggy coats, were found safe and well.
He said: "Nothing happened, thank God."
Bactrian camels originate from the deserts of central and eastern Asia and are able to survive in extreme conditions.
Although, most of the species are now domesticated.

It's not the first time wild beasts and creatures have been seen roaming around in residential neighbourhoods.
In the summer, a lion was spotted strolling the streets of Pnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.
It was believed the beast was "deliberately released" by a disgruntled employee of the animal's owner.
Chinese business tycoon Zhai Xinjiang claimed his lion Hei Man – meaning 'Dark Mind' had been let loose by a staff member who had been sacked.
He also believed the sacked employee conspired with former colleagues to let the animal out in a bid to blackmail him.
Hours after the lion was spotted roaming the streets, the man phoned Zhai alleging he had released the four-legged predator because he wasn't being fed properly.
Photos and clips of the big cat were shared online before it was safely recaptured.
The lion was then returned home.
Current staff claim they forgot to close the gate to the yard as they took out the rubbish, and the lion bolted.
