Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup – Brawls, babes and boozing – it’s a riot at races!

While other nations are completely closing up shop, Brits have shown yet again they are prepared to go out and celebrate for one of the biggest days in horse racing .

Women already let their hair down this year, as Ladies Day got off to a wild start earlier this week .

And festival goers have also been inundated with racey offers from glamorous sex workers looking to make the most of race week.

Today will surely be no different, as the event is one of the highlights of the year, with punters ready to willingly part with their cash as they back their favourites for the Gold Cup.

But, this year’s Gold Cup could give fans just a slice of enjoyment before future events face cancellations due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Perhaps aware that punters would go hard for the cup, bosses have brought in harsh restrictions in a bid to ward off any carnage.

Punters have been banned from bringing in their own booze and extensive bag searches have been carried out at the festival so far.

In a further bid to crack down on any outbreak of absolute carnage, boozing Brits have been told they can only buy up to four drinks at a time.

Cheltenham chiefs will hope the measures will spruce up horse racing's image, which has been tarnished over the years thanks to badly behaved Brits attending meets.

Snaps from previous events in the horse racing calendar showed women dressed to the nines falling over themselves at festivals.

A stunning blonde ripped her pink dress as she left Aintree during ladies' day after appearing to have thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.

Another pair also seemed to have made the most of their visit to Ascot with one stumbling over the grass after having a few too many glasses of bubbly.

A hilarious snap also showed one punter holding her mates’ hands as they lay in a drunken pile on the floor at Aintree's Grand National.

Another Ascot racegoer was spotted well on her way to joining pissed punters when she was snapped downing a bottle of fizz at the course.

Cheltenham bosses appear well-prepared for boozing binge drinkers, with free water being available for punters throughout the day.

And they might be right to pull out as many stops to stop racegoers from getting too lairy at the festival.

Unfortunately, there are some who take the festivities too far with riot police previously being called to break up fights between bottle-throwing thugs at the Epsom Derby.

Right-wing commentator Tommy Robinson was also pulled up by police after shocking footage of the former EDL leader emerged were repeatedly punched a man at Ascot.

Mr Robinson claimed to have acted in self-defense, while coach driver Asif Idris said he was not.

Today’s race is the last in the racing calendar until Aintree in April.

But, the event could be under threat as the coronavirus outbreak has already lead to numerous events being pushed back, including Manchester City’s Champions’ League clash against Real Madrid.

The 2020 Cheltenham Gold Cup will go ahead today at 3.30pm.
