A man allegedly shot dead his elder son after he accused him of raping his daughter-in-law.
The victim’s wife, who married her husband a year ago, was left home alone on November 25 while he and other relatives attended a wedding.
Her father-in-law, a 56-year-old man, was also at the house in the city of Moradabad, India – where he allegedly raped the woman.
She told police she brought up the alleged rape with her husband, who then confronted his dad.
He threatened to lodge a police complaint and a heated argument ensued, the Times of India reported.
Her husband’s younger brother joined in and took his dad's side.
In a fit of rage, he then allegedly took out a revolver and shot the elder son, who was later pronounced dead.
The victim’s dad has since been arrested and charged on suspicion of rape and murder, police have said.
