A former primary school headteacher has been branded a 'dangerous paedophile' after pleading guilty to 15 charges, including sexual activity with a child and making indecent images.
Douglas 'Duggie' Speight has been jailed for 12 years after he secretly filmed sex acts between himself and a teenage boy and even recorded other young boys getting changed at swimming baths.
Bradford Crown Court heard that the 44-year-old, who had been a respected teacher in Yorkshire, for more than 20 years, began grooming the 15-year-old by inviting him over to his flat during the lockdown.
Speight, who had given the underage complainant cider and spirits, played games of strip beer-pong with him as part of the sexual grooming, Yorkshire Live reports.
After Speight’s offending was reported to the police earlier this year officers searched his prestigious apartment in a mill development and found a tablet and two mobile phones hidden in a void behind a picture and an air vent.
The Recorder of Bradford Judge Richard Mansell QC described Speight as “a dangerous, predatory, manipulative paedophile” and he praised the bravery of his teenage victim who had the courage to reveal the sexual abuse he had suffered.
Prosecutor Tom Storey said the tablet contained covertly recorded videos of sex acts involving Speight and the teenager and further secret footage was found on the phones of three young boys at the swimming baths.
Speight admitted a series of offences including sexual activity with a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, voyeurism and making indecent photographs of children.
During the search of his apartment police also found sex toys and shortly before the boy’s allegations came to light Speight had spent about £500 buying gifts for the teenager.
Speight was given an extended 20-year sentence for his crimes which involves a 12-year jail term with an extended licence period of eight years.

But Judge Mansell explained that Speight would not be considered for release by the Parole Board until he had served two-thirds of the 12-year sentence and he would only be released if they decided it was safe to do so.
Speight will also have to sign on as a sex offender with the police for the rest of his life and an indefinite sexual harm prevention order bans him from unsupervised contact with any children.
The mother of the teenager, who must not be identified for legal reasons, said in a victim impact statement that Speight had destroyed her trust in him.
“He stole my son’s innocence and we can never get that back,” she said.

The boy’s father said Speight had “poisoned” his son’s view of the world and inflicted a life sentence on the family.
Solicitor advocate Julian White, for Speight, said his highly-educated client could give no rational explanation for his offending.
“He is no longer a teacher. He is going to prison for a long time and of course (he is) pilloried in the community,” said Mr White.
“His own reputation is destroyed and gone.”
Jailing Speight Judge Mansell said the teenager had been “trapped” because he was embarrassed about what had happened and worried about what the defendant might do.
He said he wanted to commend the teenager for his incredible courage and hoped with the appropriate help he would be able to recover from the abuse.
