A man is dead after a police shooting Sunday in Denver.
Police were called around 5:30 p.m. about reports of a man shooting rounds into an unoccupied vehicle. The dead man has not been identified.
“We’re certainly checking hospitals to see if there’s any victims that have turned up in the hospital, but we don’t believe anyone was hurt [where the unoccupied vehicle was],” Denver police Division Chief Ron Thomas said in a news conference.
When the police arrived, witnesses stated the suspect was headed east on Colfax Avenue, Thomas said. Officers located the suspect and began their approach.
The man did not comply with the officers’ commands and threatened the officers with his weapon, Thomas said. Multiple shots were fired by the officers. The suspect was transported to the hospital where he later died.
