Flash flood potential in mountains Friday night, storms possible in Denver

Meteorologists are warning of flash flood potential Friday evening in the mountains, with several inches of rain reportedly falling in Clear Creek County.

Areas of concern stretch in all directions around Idaho Springs, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS has also issued flash flood warning in areas near Saguache, Buena Vista and Granby.

Much of western Colorado is under flash flood watch — less severe than a flash flood warning — according to the NWS.

The Denver area isn’t in any such danger, the NWS said, though the there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the city tonight, with a forecast low temperature of 67 degrees. There is also a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the area on Saturday, with a forecast high temperature of 85 degrees in Denver.
