Described as “iconic broad-brimmed, one-of-a-kind hat” bids for the white hat will start from around $250,000. The former First Lady wore the hat for the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Bridget to the White House in 2018.
A 2021 watercolour of Melania wearing the white hat by French artist Marc-Antoine Coulon is also for sale.
A nonfungible token, or NFT of the artwork will be part of the collection for sale.
According to Melanie’s office part of the money made from the sale of the NFT will go to charity.
The Be Best campaign will receive funds to “assist children aging out of the foster care system by way of economic empowerment.”
Although it isn’t clear how much money from the sale will go to charity.
When previously talking about her charity work Melanie has emphasised how it will benefit the next generation.
She said: “My Be Best initiative, Fostering the Future, will provide students a range of technology skills to prepare them for the workforce.
“I am excited to inspire America’s next generation of entrepreneurs.”
Towards the end of 2021 Melania announced her foray into the world of NFT in a statement.
She said: “Through this new technology-based platform, we will provide children computer science skills, including programming and software development, to thrive after they age out of the foster community.”
A group of limited edition NFTs are going to be sold in the auction including one of Melania’s eyes entitled ‘Melania’s vision’.
Melania hinted that she would be holding an auction during the New Year’s Eve ball with her husband, former President Donald Trump.
