Missing hiker found dead in Horsetooth Mountain Park – The Denver Post

A man reported missing in Horsetooth Mountain Park on Saturday evening was found dead shortly after noon Sunday.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said the man was reported missing at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday after a group of hikers became lost and separated from each other.

According to a news release, emergency services personnel, deputies, rangers from Larimer County Department of Natural Resources, members of Larimer County Search and Rescue, Poudre Fire Authority, and UCHealth medical crews searched the area until after midnight, then the search was put on hold until daylight.

They started searching again at about 7 a.m. Sunday, and at about 12:25 p.m. the man was located beneath a rock ledge.

His body was recovered and the incident is being investigated as an unattended death, according to the release.

The man’s identity and his cause and manner of death, will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.
