A Thornton man has been arrested as a suspect in a homicide case involving the body of a woman found in an Adams County storage unit.
Gregory A. Thomas, 36, has been extradited to Colorado from Lynden, Wash., and is being held at the Adams County Jail , according to the sheriff’s office.
On May 20, the sheriff’s office responded to a storage unit in the 8700 block of Devonshire Boulevard to investigate the discovery of “human remains,” a news release said. A woman’s body was found in a large trash bin inside the storage unit. The next day, detectives served a search warrant at the residence of the person who rented the storage unit. Evidence of a crime was found and collected at the residence and investigators linked the evidence to Thomas.
The victim in the case, described as a Commerce City woman, was shot dead, according to the release.
On June 6, authorities arrested Thomas in an RV park in Washington on an outstanding warrant for a Colorado parole violation, the release said, and he was extradited. On Monday, Thomas was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and tampering with a body. An investigation is ongoing.
