Suspect connected to four homicides is arrested in Pueblo

Police have arrested a suspect connected to four recent and ongoing homicide investigations, two in Pueblo, one in Colorado Springs and one in El Paso County.

The suspect, Carlos Ulises Diaz, 21, was arrested May 19 by local law enforcement along with U.S. Marshals at a Pueblo residence without incident. He is being held at the El Paso County Jail on four counts of first-degree murder, according to a news release.

The four homicide cases involved are:

  • April 21, El Paso County, 20000 block of Longhorn Point, victim is Anthony Moore.
  • April 25, Pueblo, 10th Street and N. Hudson Avenue, victim is Manual Zegarelli.
  • April 25, Pueblo, 100 block of E. 24th Street, victim is Vehto Finnell-Vigil
  • April 25, Colorado Springs, Airport and Murray roads, victim is unidentified.

Through the course of respective investigations, Diaz was identified as a suspect and arrest warrants were obtained.

“The investigating agencies do not believe these crimes were random, and all of the victims were known associates to the suspect,” the news release said.

All three — Pueblo and Colorado Springs police, and El Paso County Sheriff — law enforcement agencies continue to work on their investigations.

Investigators in Colorado Springs have asked for the public’s help in identifying a victim described as a man in his early to late 20s, possibly Hispanic, with an “Aztec Eagle” tattoo on his chest. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 719-444-7000.
