A thug who attacked a police officer with “haymaker” punches before trying to gouge her eye out has admitted to the assault.
The 23-year-old man repeatedly punched PC Siobhan Sharkey in the face before choking her with his arm.
The chokehold left the 25-year-old struggling to breathe.
He then dug his fingers into the officer's eye in an attempt to gouge it out.
Adam Wright, from Kent, launched the vicious attack in Fort William on August 22 last year.
Siobhan had pulled Wright over after he was spotted driving a car that had been seized by the police days before.

He was immediately aggressive and began his attack as she attempted to arrest him.
The attack was thwarted by members of the public who pulled the man off the injured officer.
The officer, who has served with the police for six years, said she believed the public intervention saved her life.
Speaking about the attack, Siobhan told the Daily Record: “It was just a routine traffic stop and it went wrong very quickly. It went from zero to 100 in a matter of seconds.
“I really want to thank the members of the public that helped me that day.
“It’s good to know the public has your back and it shows there are decent folk out there that will help.
“They pretty much saved my life that day.”
She added: “The main damage was to my eyes where he gouged one of them and scratched them.”
