Two drivers killed in head-on crash in Boulder County – The Denver Post

Two men died after a head-on crash Saturday morning on U.S. 287 near Niwot Road in Boulder County, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

A 19-year-old man was driving an Audi station wagon northbound on U.S. 287 south of Niwot Road at about 6:40 a.m. when he crossed into the southbound lanes, Cpl. Ivan Alvarado said. The station wagon hit a Chevy pickup truck head on in the southbound lanes, he said. The driver of the pickup was a 68-year-old man.

Both drivers died from injuries sustained in the crash, Alvarado said. There were no passengers in either car. The road was closed for about five hours while the crash was investigated.

Alvarado said whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash is still under investigation.

“We’re going to be looking at everything,” he said.
