A wildfire burning in El Paso County near Falcon briefly forced area residents to evacuate.
The Falcon Fire Department is working on the fire and residents in an area south of Judge Orr and east of Colorado 24, north of Falcon Highway and west of Curtis Road, were ordered to evacuate.
The fire was reported by the sheriff’s office on Twitter at 4:44 p.m.
At about 5 p.m. the fire was described as “contained,” according to the Falcon Fire Department. Evacuations were lifted at about 5:15 p.m.
A stretch of Falcon Highway remains closed in the area so firefighters can continue their work. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
