William and Kate’s birthday message to Harry proves the ‘ice’ has ‘not thawed’

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s brief message to Prince Harry on his 37th birthday displays the tension between the pair.

A royal expert claims the Twitter tribute from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was ‘curt’ and shows the ‘ice hasn’t thawed’ for the brothers.

The tweet simply said: “Happy Birthday Prince Harry” and a photo of him alone.

In past birthday tweets to Prince Harry, the photo has shown the brother’s laughing together or enjoying moments such as a race against each other along with Kate.

Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous, royal expert Duncan Larcombe said: ‘William and Kate’s curt birthday message to Harry only serves as proof the ice between the brothers has still not thawed.

‘Short of ignoring the Duke of Sussex’s 37th landmark completely, their social media post was the bare minimum from a couple who once welcomed Harry as their official Royal gooseberry.

‘If anything, this year’s birthday wishes from the Cambridges are an indication of just how far relations between the two warring clans have deteriorated over the past 12 months.’

Prince Harry also received birthday messages from all of the Royal’s main social accounts today, despite ongoing tensions following the Duke and Duchess leaving working royal life.

However, none of the birthday tributes to Harry in the last four years from Prince William and Kate have featured his wife Meghan Markle.

Larcombe continued his analysis of the Tweets over the years by comparing this years to the one Prince Harry received in 2020.

He said: “On the same day in 2020, William and Kate posted a longer message complete with birthday cake emoji and a red balloon, above a picture throwing back to happier times.

“The image they chose showed the Fab Three – as they were then – racing each other on the track during a joint visit to a mental health charity. It showed them all in mid-sprint sporting huge smiles on their faces.

Prince Harry’s birthday also coincides with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex being named amongst TIME's 100 Most Influential People.

TIME described the couple: "In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the Duke and Duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know.

"They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle.”
