The astonishing attack on the ex-premiers by Mr Bercow, 60, came after Mrs May, who quit as PM in 2019, accused him of \u201cblatantly\u201d abusing his power to derail her bid to deliver Brexit.<\/p>\n
He said her claims carried \u201cno weight or credibility whatsoever\u201d, but \u201cby comparison with her corrupt successor and her incompetent successor but one, Liz Truss, she now gets a relatively good press\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cBut what people shouldn\u2019t forget is that she became prime minister in order to deliver Brexit and she failed three times to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aides of Mr Johnson, 59, who resigned in anger from the House of Commons in June following
its damning \u201cPartygate\u201d probe, declined to comment.<\/p>\n
READ MORE <\/strong> John Bercow claims credit for Brexit and admits he is a ‘show off’<\/strong><\/p>\n In a radio interview, Mr Bercow said Mrs May\u2019s Brexit deal did not get through because it was \u201cwholly unacceptable to her own party\u201d.<\/p>\n He accused her of trying to shift blame for her own \u201cabject failure\u201d.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cI think the reason why she\u2019s now thrashing around four years later…is that she wants to find someone to blame other than herself.<\/p>\n \u201cTheresa May\u2019s problem, I\u2019m afraid, was that she was the prisoner of her own party.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr Bercow retaliated after Mrs May, 66, said he had scuppered her Brexit deal by refusing to let her put it to MPs.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cWe got to a point where the DUP were being positive.
