North Korea has fired a ballistic missile just days after a rallying cry from despot Kim Jong-un.

The North Korean leader had issued a chilling slur to enemy leaders just yesterday, the Daily Star reported, and appears to have made good on his apparent call to arms.

He blasted "the gang bosses" of the United States, South Korea and Japan, with a ballistic missile launched today toward the East Sea.

Defence drills from the US, Japan and South Korean military forces prompted stern words from the dictator, who today has sanctioned the launch of a chilling missile.

The launch comes just over a week after the country announced it would test its "most powerful missile yet", alongside a spy satellite.

Tubby tyrant Kim confirmed the slate of military testing and surveillance equipment, with the latter to fall on the day North Korea celebrates its 75th anniversary.

Lawmaker Yoo Sang-bum claimed the despot was intending to have the spy satellite launched into orbit to coincide with the anniversary of the country's founding.

Grim Kim said in a recent speech: "The prevailing situation requires our navy to put all its efforts into rounding off the war readiness to maintain the constant combat alertness and get prepared to break the enemy's will for war in contingency."
