{"id":117793,"date":"2023-09-11T14:19:22","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T14:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogcamlodipine.com\/?p=117793"},"modified":"2023-09-11T14:19:22","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T14:19:22","slug":"i-worked-as-fireman-on-9-11-we-knew-terror-attack-was-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogcamlodipine.com\/world-news\/i-worked-as-fireman-on-9-11-we-knew-terror-attack-was-coming\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018I worked as fireman on 9\/11 \u2013 we knew terror attack was coming\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A New York City firefighter who was part of the heartbreaking search and rescue effort on 9\/11 said he knew an attack was going to come.<\/p>\n<p>Niels Jorgensen was with the FDNY for 22 years and, as luck would have it, was on his day off on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.<\/p>\n<p>But like every single one of his colleagues he rushed to Ground Zero the moment he heard about the unfolding tragedy.<\/p>\n<p><b>READ MORE: 9\/11: Incredible story of man who survived collapse of the World Trade Centre<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Niels told the Soft White Underbelly channel that there had long been a suspicion among FDNY firefighters that the disaster was coming.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article24918393.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/2_September-11-Terrorist-Attacks-on-the-World-Trade-Centre.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were waiting for it,\u201d he explained. \u201cIn the late Nineties there was an FDNY training manual with a sketch of the Twin Towers, and it had a target on one of the towers, and it said \u2018Not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN. Be Ready. Be trained\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid they know this was coming? Us guys that were there in 93 [for the February 26 World Trade Centre bomb attack] we kind of always had this in the back of our mind\u2026 that they\u2019re not going to give this up. <\/p>\n<p>&quot;They\u2019re going to come and get us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30912340.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_I-worked-for-the-New-York-Fire-Department-we-knew-911-was-coming.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30697648.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_I-should-have-died-on-911-suicide-flight-but-was-saved-by-a-story.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> &apos;Terrorist put AK-47 to my head on flight but I survived \u2013\u00a0years later he told me why&apos;<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dozens of his friends died that day. He recalled, in particular, seeing Father Mychal Judge praying at the base of the towers as the rescue effort went on around him.<\/p>\n<p>The well-loved NYFD chaplain known as \u201cFather Mike\u201d was later classified as Victim 0001 \u2013 the first official casualty of 9\/11.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFather Judge raced in there to pray, as the chaos of the towers was going on,\u201d Niels continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a video of him in a famous documentary: he\u2019s in there and he\u2019s just praying to God for everyone to be OK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30912346.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Rescue-workers-search-through-the-rubble.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30278723.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_MAINSOCIAL.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> Pilot blamed for fireball crash that killed 41 to be sent to grim Russian penal colony<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But \u201cFather Mike\u201d ended up losing his life that day, along with some 2,976 others. \u201cHe ended up, from the debris coming down around him, having a heart attack,\u201d Niels added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd as they carried him out, later on, he was actually hit with more d\u00e9bris.
