Get the biggest stories and wackiest takes from the Daily Star, including our special WTF Wednesday email<\/p>\n<p>We have more newsletters<\/p>\n<p>A woman who died from a botched Brazilian butt lift in Turkey wasn&apos;t warned of the risks associated with the procedure, it has emerged.<\/p>\n<p>Melissa Kerr, 31, passed away on the operating table after she forked out \u00a33,200 to have the surgery at Medicana Kadikoy hospital in Istanbul in November 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Leading up to the operation Ms Kerr shared messages with a hospital worker, asking for photos of other patients and stating she was nervous.<\/p>\n<p><b>READ MORE: UK school locked down after &apos;threatening email&apos; with children not allowed out<\/b><\/p>\n<p>And as the operation took place, fat taken from Ms Kerr&apos;s body entered a vein and blocked her pulmonary artery after it was injected into her buttocks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article30925657.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Melissa_Kerr_eans3.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The cause of her tragic death was recorded as a pulmonary thromboembolism, Norfolk\u2019s Coroner\u2019s Court heard.<\/p>\n<p>Consultant plastic surgeon Simon Withey, an expert witness asked to prepare a report for Ms Kerr&apos;s inquest, said the death rate associated with Brazilian butt lifts was, shockingly, &quot;likely to be in excess of one in 4,000&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>He added it was &quot;quite possible&quot; that had Ms Kerr been warned of the danger associated with the procedure &quot;before she was financially committed to proceed, she would not have done [it].&quot;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article30925655.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_PAY-melissa_kerr_eans2.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30924390.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_francisco-micha-768x1024jfifjpeg.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> Black Beach prisoners languish in humid hellhole after &apos;confession&apos; torture<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ms Kerr&apos;s devastated partner, Skye Birch, previously posted an emotional tribute to Facebook following her death. <\/p>\n<p>Sharing a series of snaps of the couple, he wrote: &quot;I will continue to love you with all my heart until my last breath.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recording a narrative conclusion, Norfolk\u2019s senior coroner Jacqueline Lake said the mental health counsellor died after cosmetic surgery.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Ms Kerr wasn\u2019t seen by a surgeon or clinician prior to the date of the procedure. Ms Kerr underwent a limited assessment prior to the procedures,&quot; the coroner continued.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article30925654.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_A-BEAUTIFUL-mental-health-counsellor-died-while-having-a-bum-lift-operation-at-a-Turkish-hospital.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>&quot;Ms Kerr was provided with limited information regarding the risks and mortality rate associated with this procedure.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>She then addressed Ms Kerr&apos;s family, who listened to the proceedings online, and said she planned to write to the Health Secretary Steve Barclay concerning their deceased loved one&apos;s case.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;There has been the release of an international alert to surgeons regarding the high mortality rate associated with this procedure,&quot; she explained.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article30925660.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_A-BEAUTIFUL-mental-health-counsellor-died-while-having-a-bum-lift-operation-at-a-Turkish-hospital.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>&quot;There has also been the introduction of a voluntary moratorium on this type of procedure in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;These are clearly not being followed in Turkey.
