Kennedy was assassinated as he travelled in an open top car with his wife Jackie on a trip to Dallas, Texas. <\/p>\n<p>But, ever since that fateful day on November 22, 1963, exactly what happened &#8211; and why &#8211; has been hotly debated. <\/p>\n<p>As we reported earlier this week, ex-Secret Service agent Paul Landis &#8211; who was walking near Kennedy\u2019s limousine at the time &#8211; has finally broken his silence about it. <\/p>\n<p><b>READ MORE: &apos;The real Putin may now be a gibbering wreck in a straitjacket and high on meth&apos;<\/b><\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s cast doubt on the \u2018magic bullet\u2019 theory behind the official verdict that gunman Lee Harvey Oswald alone killed JFK. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30936069.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_John-F-Kennedy.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>So, what\u2019s the truth?<\/p>\n<h4>A Lone Gunman? <\/h4>\n<p>An official 1964 investigation into who killed the 46-year-old President, called The Warren Commission, identified 24-year-old ex-marine Oswald as Kennedy\u2019s lone assassin. <\/p>\n<p>It found that he fired three bullets from his rifle at 12.30pm, from a sixth-floor window of the Texas School Book Depository building, as JFK\u2019s car drove through Dallas\u2019 Dealey Plaza. <\/p>\n<p>The first missed, the second was the so-called \u2018magic bullet\u2019 that hit the president in the back, exited his throat, then wounded Texas governor John Connally, shattering his wrist, lodging in his thigh. <\/p>\n<p>The third shot was a fatal one to Kennedy\u2019s head. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30936065.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Lee-Harvey-Oswald-Mug-Shot.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30929609.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/2_alien_main.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> &apos;Alien corpses with three-fingered hands&apos; on show at UFO hearing are &apos;1,000 years old&apos;<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most other formal inquiries backed the \u2018lone killer\u2019 conclusion. <\/p>\n<p>Having apparently fled and shot another police officer in Dallas that day, Oswald was arrested but himself gunned down by nightclub boss Jack Ruby, 53, two days later, before he could face trial. <\/p>\n<h4>Multiple Shooters? <\/h4>\n<p>Popularised by Oliver Stone\u2019s 1991 movie JFK, starring Kevin Costner as DA Jim Garrison, many people believe there was more than one gunman involved. <\/p>\n<p>Sceptics challenge the complex trajectory of the \u2018magic bullet\u2019, apparently found on wounded Connally\u2019s stretcher. <\/p>\n<p>Landis, now 88, claims he retrieved a bullet from behind JFK\u2019s seat and put it on the president\u2019s stretcher, reckoning it may have fallen on to Connally\u2019s when they were side by side at the hospital. <\/p>\n<p>If there was no magic bullet, was Connally hit by a different shot?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30936072.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_Kennedys-Riding-in-Dallas-Motorcade.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30925464.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_main-ds.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> &apos;Terminally ill&apos; Vladimir Putin &apos;will die before end of autumn&apos;, expert claims<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Were more bullets fired as audio evidence suggested &#8211; or from the front, not behind &#8211; as the famous Zapruder film may suggest? <\/p>\n<p>Would Oswald have had enough time to fire them in a few seconds anyway? <\/p>\n<p>There were also witness reports of shots fired from a grassy knoll near the murder scene. And why did Kennedy\u2019s brain later go missing. <\/p>\n<p>A 1979 House select committee determined there was probably a conspiracy to kill JFK. <\/p>\n<h4>A CIA Plot?<\/h4>\n<p> After the shooting police arrested three apparent tramps behind the grassy knoll. <\/p>\n<p>Mysteriously they were clean-shaven and well-dressed, fuelling a theory that they were actually CIA assassins. <\/p>\n<p>And was a man snapped holding an umbrella on a sunny day really a protestor as claimed? <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30936067.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Fidel-Castro-at-May-Day-Parade.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30923972.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_main-ds.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> &apos;I&apos;m Dave, I&apos;m a Flat Earther and sure aliens are here \u2013 just check behind Antarctica&apos;<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Kennedy is said to have vowed to break up the CIA, who were left red-faced over the 1961 Bay of Pigs fiasco to oust Cuban leader Fidel Castro. <\/p>\n<p>The organisation had also chosen JFK\u2019s Dallas route, failed to inspect it properly and withheld evidence. Plus, former boss Allen Dulles, was conveniently on the Warren Commission.<\/p>\n<h4> Did The VP Do It?<\/h4>\n<p> That afternoon, as JFK\u2019s dead body was flown back to Washington DC, vice-president Lyndon B.
