Regis University in Denver was under lockdown for a short time Thursday morning as police searched for a homicide suspect.

Those on campus had been asked to shelter in place and get to a safe location.

The homicide occurred at West 50th Avenue and Federal Boulevard, but 14 minutes after Regis posted the lockdown alert on social media, the university announced that the suspect was arrested at 55th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard.

The lockdown was lifted, and the university said police believe there is no longer a danger associated with the incident.

Denver police announced that officers were investigating a homicide at 50th Avenue and Federal Boulevard at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday after a stabbing in the area, and that they had taken one person into custody.

Police indicated that this was a separate incident from a fatal stabbing that occurred early Thursday morning on a Regional Transportation District bus at Federal Boulevard and 32nd Avenue — police were still searching for a suspect as of late Thursday morning. The agency said that there are no updates on either investigation, including whether the two incidents are connected.
