A stag party member dragged himself out of bed to win a top half-marathon race.<\/p>\n
Ollie Garrod, 30, was on a weekend bender to Bournemouth when he lined up with 4,500 other runners on the start line after just four hours sleep.<\/p>\n
The 11-man stag party had gorged on a Chinese meal and downed a few beers on Friday night before going out on a beach day and all-day bar crawl on Saturday ending in the early hours.<\/p>\n

Ollie, an accountant from Ashtead, Surrey, decided to put on his running shoes and joined the race on Sunday morning \u201cas a bit of jolly\u201d. He hadn\u2019t expected to win after his \u201cnot ideal preparation.\u201d<\/p>\n
But after getting off to a fast start he said the cheering of spectators \u2013 minus his mates who were all still in bed with groggy heads – carried him home to win in an impressive time of one hour 10 minutes. He finished over a minute ahead of the second place runner to win the Run Bournemouth race.<\/p>\n
A delighted Ollie said: \u201cThere were 11 of us on the stag do and on the Friday night we had a Chinese and beers. Saturday was a lovely day on the beach in the sunshine then various bars.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a late night and I was feeling very tired in the morning, so it was not ideal preparation. I was not expecting to win but I went off really hard with the guy who came second in the end.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got to about six miles in on about pace for six or seven minutes, so really quick. Then the hill kicked in at mile eight, and then we tempered it from there.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a superb atmosphere, the crowd was fantastic. I was pleased to muster that time for the win to top off a stag weekend.<\/p>\n
