Disturbing footage of an unofficial EU army will be the future of the British military if Labour’s plan to join a so-called “security pact” with Brussels is enacted, Nigel Farage and Tory Brexiteer MPs have warned.

The footage this week from Cadiz in Spain showed the EU’s first official military exercise.

It was the first time that member states had been formally contacted to take part in a military exercise on EU headed notepaper.

While not yet officially an “EU army”, the exercise is the closest yet that a formal EU military force has been acknowledged and it has caused new alarm about Labour’s plan to enter a so-called “security pact”.

Labour’s shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy confirmed the plan at the party conference in Liverpool and it would take the UK deeper into EU military structures.

It is truly disturbing.”

Don’t miss…

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. More info

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was a fierce proponent of an EU army when she was German defence minister.

Worryingly for Brexiteers, Joe Biden wants her to be the next General Secretary of NATO as well with the Democrats supporting a single European military force.

But Conservative MPs have joined Mr Farage in warning about the consequences of Labour’s plans on a security pact and the end destination of an EU army.

Looking at the future from Cadiz, Dudley North MP Marco Longhi warned: “This is what the future of the British Armed Forces will look like if Labour get in. Something which they had always denied they would do is happening.”

Stoke North MP Jonathan Gullis said: “I remember when the Remoaners like Sir Keir Starmer told us this wouldn’t happen.

“Now it’s in plain slight for all to see.

“The worry is Sir Keir was willing to take a share of the EU’s illegal migrants and surrender our borders to Brussels, we’d be foolish to think he wouldn’t also want to sign up this this nonsense either.”

Bassetlaw MP Brendan Clarke Smith added: “There is no doubt that these images will be the consequence of a security pact signed by Labour with the EU.”

At the Labour conference, David Lammy said: “We were surprised when Boris Johnson rejected the opportunity for an EU security pact with our European partners.”

He confirmed that under Labour Britain “will join a security pact with the eU.”
