It\u2019s the first confirmation that the venerable off-roader will embrace electrification in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Badged \u2018Landcruiser Se\u2019, the maker says the seven-seat 4&#215;4 concept offers the \u201chigh-torque driving performance unique to BEVs\u201d. No further battery or powertrain information has been confirmed at this time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.autoexpress.co.uk\/image\/private\/s--4zXg2Tzw--\/f_auto,t_related-embed-mobile@1\/v1690903105\/autoexpress\/2023\/07\/Best%20SUVs%20-%20August%202023%20header%20image.jpg\">Top 10 best SUVs to buy 2023<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s likely the Se will launch alongside the conventional Land Cruiser in due course. Toyota says the new car will \u201cbroaden the Land Cruiser brand\u2019s appeal with a three-row SUV that caters to the world\u2019s diverse needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Measuring 5,150mm long, 1,990mm wide and 1,705mm tall, it is longer and wider \u2013 but a little bit lower \u2013 than the recently revealed all-new Land Cruiser, which is due on sale some time in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota says the Se concept boasts an \u201celegant, stylish design\u201d. It\u2019s certainly sleeker than the current car, largely thanks to its long wheelbase, sloping roofline and blacked-out C-pillar. It looks to be riding on large wheels with road-biased tyres, though Toyota claims the monocoque body will offer \u201chighly responsive handling and confidence in tackling tough terrain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This suggests that even in the electric age, the Land Cruiser will remain Toyota\u2019s most focused and hardcore 4&#215;4 model \u2013 sitting above cars like the electric bZ4x and hybrid RAV4.<\/p>\n<p>The Se should be more usable day-to-day than its predecessors, however, thanks to a \u201cquietness\u201d that helps to create a \u201ccomfortable cabin space when driving in urban areas and other on-road situations&quot;.
