An entire family were killed in a horror car crash outside a hotel beer garden.

The horror scene happened in Australia, when a white BMW X5 went careering into the beer garden of the Royal Hotel in Daylesford. It has now been confirmed that five people have been killed, three of whom are from the same family.

The unnamed people are a 30-year-old man, his 44-year-old partner and their daughter who was aged just nine. Another man, 38, and his 11-year-old son have also been killed, while that man's wife and second son were injured and are currently in hospital.

An 11-month-old baby boy has also been injured, and is being treated in hospital – the 43-year-old mother is not thought to be injured.

Rhonda White, a Daylesford resident who saw the scenes unfold, said: “There were bodies everywhere, it was horrifying. I watched the whole crash. The car went up into the sky. I thought it was just dust. It's only now I know it was bodies." Locals said the pub was busy all weekend and the courtyard was 'packed' at the time of the crash.

And one witness claimed the care "accelerated like a rocket", mounting the curb and slamming staight into the picnic tables at the pub's front area. It has not been made public what happened, but one of the injured in the crash was the car's drive, a 67-year-old unnamed man from Mt Macedon.
