Pressure drops from the weather are causing millions of us to have splitting headaches.<\/p>\n
Nine million Britons \u2013 one in seven – suffer from \u2018storm migraines\u2019. These are weather-triggered headaches, with the main cause being sudden falling air pressure like during stormy weather today (Wednesday, November 8) and during last week\u2019s storms Ciaran and Domingos.<\/p>\n
A rush of sufferers have complained of weather migraines in the past week, with rare low air pressure up to 50mb below normal.<\/p>\n

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: \u201cFeeling a headache or joint pain? Studies suggest it\u2019s down to rapidly changing air pressure.<\/p>\n

"There has been incredibly low pressure right across the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n
James Woodford wrote on Twitter: \u201cThat explains it, I\u2019ve had a headache and had a feeling it might be due to the very low air pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fellow user Rand said: \u201cI\u2019ve had a headache and felt generally very weird.\u201d<\/p>\n
The phenomena is recognised by medical experts worldwide.<\/p>\n

The NHS said: \u201cIf you\u2019re prone to getting headaches, you could find that storms can bring on head pain. <\/p>\n
\u201cPressure changes that cause weather changes are thought to trigger chemical and electrical changes in the brain.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis irritates nerves, leading to a headache.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the meantime, more showers are being forecasted by the Met Office, especially in the far west areas of Scotland as large parts of the UK are still recovering from the impact of Storm Ciar\u00e1n.<\/p>\n
There is also a probability of some snow later in the month but only on higher grounds in Scotland.<\/p>\n
