Nigel Farage addresses I’m a Celebrity rumours

Brexiteers and Remainers have reacted as rumours reach fever pitch over Nigel Farage appearing on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

The former Ukip and Brexit Party leader is reportedly part of the line-up for the latest series of the ITV show filmed Down Under.

Brexiteers predicted that the GB News presenter would win over opponents if he does take part in the programme.

Fellow GB News presenter and ex-Brexit Party MEP Martin Daubney said: “Farage Down Under would be an epic Rumble in the Jungle – the unfancied, gobby, Brexit heavyweight against the Remainer, luvvie establishment.

“But I think Nigel would knock ‘em out cold, through good humour and dogged persistence.

“No doubt as we saw with Matt Hancock, voting would turn into a kangaroo court as Remainers nominate Nigel for every grisly challenge, which he will attack with gusto.

“They say politics is showbiz for ugly people. But politically, the increased celebrity status through I’m A Celebrity can only boost Nigel’s profile, especially with younger voters, who would get to see the real Nigel, not the Remainstream media-fabricated monster.

“My prediction is Nigel would charm the pants off his opponents in the jungle, as I’ve seen him do many times in real life. In fact, I reckon he’s worth a cheeky £50 bet to win the crown.”

Ben Habib, deputy leader of Reform UK, added: “I fear more for the Jungle than Nigel.

“Let’s hope none of his fellow contestants are leftie loonies or worse still, Remainers! Get ready for fireworks.”

David Campbell Bannerman, an ex-MEP and chairman of the Conservative Democratic Organisation, said Mr Farage is “good company” and “would do well in the Jungle”.

He said: “I think this will show that Nigel can be respectful of other views but has clear, robust and principled opinions.

“My only fear for him is how he’ll cope being so far away from a proper real ale!”

Meanwhile, Naomi Smith, CEO of the pro-EU Best for Britain group, said Mr Farage’s detractors will enjoy seeing him take part in the programme’s famous Bushtucker Trials.

Ms Smith said: “No doubt anti-populists across the country would rejoice at Nigel Farage being so many thousands of miles away, munching on grubs and doing humiliating Bushtucker Trials.

“But this is just the latest manifestation of his main character syndrome laid bare, as Farage attempts to reinsert himself into the spotlight, and without question, into a post-election Tory party seeking new leadership in opposition.”

Mr Farage is one of a host of famous names rumoured to be taking part in this year’s show.

Addressing speculation on Monday, he said: “Unlike previous years, I am giving it very, very serious consideration.

“Why? Well, you’ve got about 10 million young people who watch that programme. These are people who don’t really watch the news or read newspapers, but they still care about the country they live in and their futures, and actually, in many ways, the futures of young people in Britain had been blighted.

“They haven’t got the same opportunities that their parents and grandparents had and they’d love to look for solutions.

“So in my mind, if I was to do it, I might be able to connect with that audience, because goodness me they all watch I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”

It comes after former health secretary Matt Hancock came third in the 2022 series.
