South Africa\u2019s Garden Route road trip also ventures through national parks and forests, with the N2 highway forming the backbone of the route.<\/p>\n

Lonely Planet explains more about the route that stretches the south-eastern coast of South Africa, extending from Witsand in the Western Cape to the border of Tsitsikamma Storms River in the Eastern Cape.<\/p>\n

The popular traveller\u2019s bible said: \u201cIt\u2019s one of the most popular parts of South Africa for visitors both local and international.<\/p>\n

\u201cStretching some 200km, a Garden Route road trip takes in national parks, dense forests, placid lakes and some outrageously beautiful beaches.<\/p>\n

\u201cKnown as much for its outdoor activities as its natural beauty, along the way you can learn to surf, leap into water-filled canyons, dive to shipwrecks or simply sit on board a yacht admiring the view with a glass of local bubbly in hand.\u201d<\/p>\n

And it has an army of die hard fans who have also fallen in love with the route.<\/p>\n

Many have taken to TripAdvisor – a website where tourists can leave reviews – to talked about their amazing adventures.<\/p>\n

One said: \u201cWe drove the garden route recently, travelling to Hermanus, Knysna Sedgefield and Mossel Bay.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe route is spectacular in parts and the roads are excellent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the reviewer did have something to say about fellow road users adding: \u201cThe same cannot be said of some of the South African driving!\u201d<\/p>\n

Another happy Garden Route traveller said: \u201cGarden Route in South Africa is one such tour where you can experience wildlife in its natural habitat, and indulge in adventure sports as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
