Humza Yousaf\u2019s SNP has been told to focus on the \u201creal priorities\u201d of those living in Scotland rather than peddling a \u201chalf-baked\u201d independence plot.<\/p>\n
Scottish Tories have responded with fury to a recent white paper published by the SNP government at Holyrood about its plans for an independent Scotland\u2019s marine sector.<\/p>\n
The 47-page document, which follows on from an EU paper published a few days previously, sets out how an independent Scotland \u201ccould negotiate for its own interests in international marine forums, without reliance on the UK Government\u201d.<\/p>\n
It states as an EU member state Scotland would seek to reform the EU\u2019s CFP and \u201cprioritise our marine interests at the heart of Europe\u201d.<\/p>\n
Click here to join our Whatsapp community to be the first to receive politics news from The Express <\/strong><\/p>\n Shadow minister Rachael Hamilton MSP promised to hold her SNP rivals to account over their \u201crelentless obsession with independence\u201d and desire to join the EU as an independent nation.<\/p>\n The Scottish Conservative shadow rural affairs secretary said: \u201cThe SNP should stop squandering taxpayers\u2019 money on their relentless obsession with independence and fully focus on supporting Scotland\u2019s fishermen right now.<\/p>\n \u201cThese half-baked proposals show that the SNP are hell-bent on aligning our fishermen once again with European Union rules, rather than helping to deliver the benefits available to them now.<\/p>\n \u201cSNP ministers are kidding themselves if they think an independent Scotland would be able to reform the hated Common Fisheries Policy, which deeply damaged our fishermen and coastal communities for decades.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will hold SNP Parliamentarians to account over their wish to rejoin.<\/p>\n \u201cThe nationalist coalition have already shown how out-of-touch they are with coastal communities and the industry this year by proposing their reckless plans for Highly Protected Marine Areas.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is rich of them to talk about supporting Scotland\u2019s marine sector when they\u2019ve just cut \u00a33million from marine Scotland\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n \u201cMairi Gougeon \u2013 the SNP\u2019s Rural Affairs Secretary \u2013 should focus on the real priorities of those living and working in rural Scotland, rather than aiming to break up the United Kingdom at every turn.\u201d<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong>
