Drug dealers are snapping up Deliveroo jackets and bags from eBay to evade cops.

They’re buying the kits for less than £40 then hitting the streets on bikes to do drop offs.

We found insulated Deliveroo bags on sale for £16.99 and trademark green waterproof jackets with the takeaway service’s logo for £20.

County lines drug runners are packing the bags with cocaine, heroin and cannabis and sending couriers to addicts.

In some cases they’re even robbing the clothes at knife point from genuine drivers at and using them for their drugs operations.

We spoke to a dealer who delivers cannabis to customers in the North West. He said: “I’ve been doing it for a while now. I’ve got a moped, several jackets and a bag I bought on eBay.

“I’ve got a helmet on most of the time so no one can see who I am. Then I just got on with it. The drugs are sealed in vacuum bags so there’s no smell. It’s an easy way to get around without being clocked.

“I know some people have been nicked but police aren’t doing random searches. There’s usually intelligence involved. I’m doing it on a fairly small scale so it’s easier to do it.”

But police are onto the ruse. Several drugs bosses have been nicked in recent months.

Car dealer Robert Fuller disguised mules as Deliveroo drivers and used his second-hand motor garage in Norwich as a front in a huge cocaine and cannabis smuggling operation.

But cops smashed it after uncovering encrypted messages on his Encrochat phone.

Fuller – ‘dubbed The Drugs Baron Norfolk Broads’ – bought imitation outfits so his runners could avoid detection as he planned to import liquid cocaine from Peru in jars of asparagus.

He was jailed earlier this month.

In August, three county lines drug dealers involved in the supply of more than 45kg of cocaine were jailed after more than £30,000 of cash was found in a Deliveroo bag in Kent.

In May, Hamza Badawi, 25, was jailed after cops found snap bags containing £10,000 worth of cannabis in a Deliveroo bag at the end of a high speed chase through Salford, Greater Manchester.

Rhiannon Sawyer, of the Children’s Society, said: “Gangs are stealing delivery drivers’ bags and branding so when they are going around on mopeds they look like Deliveroo drivers.

“It’s not just the children, it will be adults or young adults. That’s come from raids of properties of victims and police found the branded items like clothes and boxes there. We’ve even heard of young people being told to get jobs as takeaway drivers.”

Deliveroo said: “Our riders have the right to deliver amazing meals without fear of violence or intimidation.

“We work closely with the police and authorities to tackle crime if it is ever aimed at Deliveroo riders.”
