<\/p>\nElf on the Shelf has become a major part of many children\u2019s festive season \u2013 with parents rushing to rearrange the toys into cheeky positions each morning as part of a magical surprise. While some love them and others hate the faff you have to admit they\u2019re extremely common in recent years.<\/p>\n
Well, now the city of Bristol has taken the Christmas tradition to the next level with a massive 15ft (4.5m) elf taking part in the city\u2019s festivities. The huge elf is set to take part in a game of "hide and seek" with residents. <\/p>\n
The as-yet-unnamed elf will pop up on top of a number of the city\u2019s buildings with classic mischief taking place for fans to spot throughout December. It\u2019s rumoured that the cheeky elf may get stuck into some festive treats and naughty antics.<\/p>\n

Anyone who wants to take part in the city-wide game can find hints and clues about the elf\u2019s whereabouts on the Redcliffe & Temple BID's social media channels. The cute \u2013 but enormous \u2013 Santa\u2019s helper will travel around Bristol centre from December 1 to 24 spreading festive cheer wherever they go.<\/p>\n
Bristol's elf was created by prop and puppet-maker Jenny Simmons, Redcliffe & Temple BID and The Lumistella Company's official The Elf on the Shelf teams in the UK, reports BBC. While the original Elf on the Shelf originated from a 2005 picture book by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell.<\/p>\n

Organisers of the city-wide Elf on the Shelf game said: "Coming and going before the city awakes, residents are being encouraged to get up and find the new spot the elf takes."<\/p>\n
Steve Bluff, head of Redcliffe & Temple BID, said: "What better way to say Merry Christmas to Bristol than with a giant 15ft elf… we can't wait to see what Bristol names our very own The Elf on the Shelf."<\/p>\n
He noted that it was a "fantastic" way to celebrate local talent. He added: "We can't wait to delight workers, residents and visitors this festive season with a big old Christmas cracker, all while bringing festive fun to some of our city's undiscovered areas."<\/p>\n
The city is also seeking a name for the elf as household helpers are usually given one by the children they keep an eye on. Social media channels will be seeking name suggestions to name the large festive fellow.<\/p>\n
