Analysis compiled by comparison website Finder sees both the UK and the US in the list for countries with the most expensive pints across the globe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It may also be a surprise to many that the UK is not even in the top 10 when it comes to a city with the world’s most expensive pints.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Given that both states have strict regulations when it comes to consuming alcohol, it is no surprise that the cities of Doha and Dubai, in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates respectively, have the most expensive pint of beer on average.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ordering a pint of beer in Doha will set you back an average of \u00a310.47, while doing the same in Dubai costs a shade under a tenner at \u00a39.93.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Certifying the Gulf states as an expensive place to drink the amber nectar, the top three is rounded out by Oman’s capital city of Muscat, where a pint costs \u00a38.68 on average.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Other parts of the world known for their pricey pints include Nordic countries and western Europe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Iceland, Finland, Norway and Denmark all feature on the list, meaning you will need to pay an average of over \u00a37 for a beer in Reykjavik and Oslo.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While \u00a36.06 may sound like an extortionate amount to part with for a pint in Copenhagen, that is just 16p more expensive than the median price of one in London, which costs \u00a35.90.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Other notable names on the list include the world-renowned tourist hotspot of New York, the wealthy Swiss city of Zurich.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It is rounded off by the French capital, Paris, which shades London for a fractionally cheaper pint by 4p, coming it at \u00a35.86.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Finder’s research also revealed that the average cost of a pint in the UK in 2023 is \u00a34.21. This increased by 1.6% from an average of \u00a34.15 in 2022 and by just over 8% from the UK average of \u00a33.89 in 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It found that the cheapest average pint – out of 46 analysed – could be bought in\u00a0 Derby, at just \u00a33.00, which is \u00a31.21 less than the UK average of \u00a34.21.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Following Derby, Kingston Upon Hull and Aberdeen are the second and third cheapest cities to buy a beer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rounding off the top three cheapest pints by city in the UK, Kingston upon Hull charges \u00a33.32 and Aberdeen\u2019s average is \u00a33.43.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The list of the most expensive cities across the globe to order a pint comes as online database Numbeo revealed the cheapest places to order a beer in Europe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Debrecen, located in eastern Hungary, offers the cheapest pint in Europe – costing just 92p ($1.12) per 0.5 litres.<\/p>\n
Thirsty travellers can enjoy a cheap and cheerful break to Hungary’s second-largest city in a\u00a0spot that is fairly easy to reach, with Wizz Air operating return flights from London Luton for less than \u00a3100 ($124.18).<\/p>\n
