Rishi Sunak mocks Keir Starmer with Angela Rayner dig in PMQs

Rishi Sunak is set for a nervous weekend as Conservative MPs decide whether to ask for a vote of confidence in his leadership.

The Prime Minister is facing a crisis after sacking his Home Secretary Suella Braverman last month and presenting emergency legislation on getting Rwanda deportation flights off the ground which many MPs believe is inadequate.

If he is forced out he will be the third Prime Minister deposed after the 2019 election following Boris Johnson and Liz Truss to the Downing Street exit door.

But as Tory MPs decide what to do the big question they are facing is who can replace Sunak as Prime Minister.

A number of options are available led by four women.

Favourites at the moment are Ms Braverman who has led the opposition over the Bill; Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch or Leader of the House Penny Mordaunt, who wooed the nation with her sword-carrying antics at the Coronation.

Another leading female candidate is former Home Secretary Priti Patel, a leading light in the grassroots Conservative Democratic Organisation.

But other options are available.

Nigel Farage, who is still in the jungle with I’m a Celebrity, has admitted he would like to be Prime Minister and there have been some who would welcome him into the Conservative Party.

Others believe Boris Johnson should never have been removed and Lord David Cameron is also back in Parliament as Foreign Secretary and could be available.

Who would you like? Vote below.
