UK's biggest ever lottery winner could scoop £201m – and be worth more than Adele

"Not knowing who liked me for me, and having all the stress of all the money, I just wanted to go back to having a normal life," she said on ITV's This Morning several years ago.

Now Callie leads a normal life but the negative consequences of the win still plague the mum-of-two. "I suffer from such bad anxiety when I am going to meet new people," she said. "I still get abuse just because of who I am."

Callie isn't the only one who's seen the dark side of becoming filthy rich overnight. Michael Carroll, 40, scooped nearly £10million at 19 before earning the nickname "Lotto Lout" after splashing his cash on cocaine and prostitutes.

The former binman once boasted he had slept with 4,000 women after hosting drug-fuelled "Roman-style orgies" at his Norfolk mansion. But his rock-and-roll lifestyle eventually saw the cash run out and Mickey ended up homeless, having declared bankruptcy in 2013. He has since relocated to Scotland and works as a yard foreman at a quarry.

Margaret Loughrey, 56, was another winner whose life was thrown into turmoil. She picked up the winning EuroMillions ticket on a whim, bagging an eye-watering £27m in the process.

Despite her new-found wealth, Margaret continued to live in her bungalow in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland, and bought swanky properties including her "dream home." However, four months after bagging the prize Margaret was sectioned after being deemed "a danger to herself and others."

Her mental health continued to deteriorate and she was tragically found dead in September 2021, shortly after renovations on her dream home were finished. She never got to live in the property.

Adrian and Gillian Bayford also became victims of the so-called "lottery curse" after scooping £148m in the EuroMillions. In the 11 years since they won the sum in 2012, their life together has fallen apart.

Gillian, 51, revealed she wished the couple had never gone public when, just 15 months after the win, their marriage fell apart. She is now married to convicted fraudster Brian Deans, while her ex-husband, 52, was unlucky in love for years after the divorce.

In 2021 he moved out of the mansion he bought following the win at a loss after he was dumped there four times. Earlier this year he was spotted with a new love interest, ambulance worker Tracey Biles.
