Hotel bosses are reeling from shocking levels of thefts from rooms including TVs, coffee makers, paintings and even bed mattresses.<\/p>\n
They said guests had graduated from bath robes and towels to anything that isn\u2019t nailed down.<\/p>\n
Nine per cent of managers said TVs had gone missing from their establishments and another 10% said remotes disappeared as well.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: Top secret \u2018Poison Gas Island' now abandoned and overrun with rabbits everywhere<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n For more news, click here.<\/b><\/p>\n Eleven per cent said coffee makers have been stolen and 18% said computers were also stolen from rooms and 3% said mini fridges kept disappearing.<\/p>\n A shocking eight out of 10 \u2013 79% said towels went and 66% regularly replace stolen bathrobes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Another 25% said artworks disappeared all the time from rooms including paintings and vases.<\/p>\n Five per cent even said mattresses had been spirited out of rooms in the dead of night and that light fittings and brass bathroom fittings had been unscrewed and stolen.<\/p>\n The shocking report revealed thousands of guests are like the famous Paul Whitehouse character in The Fast Show who brags: \u201cI\u2019m a geezer, I\u2019ll nick anything.\u201d<\/p>\n Guests even open the back of clocks and radios to get at batteries with 30% of hotel managers reporting their theft.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Another 9% of managers said they have had hair dryers stolen.<\/p>\n The Wellness Heaven hotel guide asked 1,376 hoteliers who run four and five star hotels what items have been stolen to come up with the findings.<\/p>\n A spokesperson said: \u201cEven expensive luxury mattresses \u2013 often worth thousands of pounds \u2013 are not immune.<\/p>\n \u201cHow the bulky items are transported unnoticed remains a mystery but some hoteliers informed us this only happens in the middle of the night using elevators leading directly to underground parking.<\/p>\n \u201cMissing bathrobes, towels and toiletries have become the least of their worries.\u201d<\/p>\n Researchers also found expensive hotel are just as likely to be targeted by thieving guests as economy hotels.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Computers are six times more likely to go missing from a five star hotel than a four star and artworks four times more likely.<\/p>\n Overall another 49% report hangers being stolen, 41% pens, 36% toiletries and cosmetics, 27% cutlery, 18% blankets, 16% pillows and 12% dishes.<\/p>\n Hangers:<\/b>49%<\/b><\/p>\n Pens: 41%<\/b><\/p>\n T<\/b>oiletries<\/b>and cosmetics<\/b>:<\/b>36%<\/b><\/p>\n Cutlery:<\/b>27%<\/b><\/p>\n B<\/b>lankets:<\/b>18%<\/b><\/p>\n Pillows:<\/b>16%<\/b><\/p>\n D<\/b>ishes:<\/b>12%<\/b><\/p>\nMost commonly stolen stuff<\/h2>\n
