A mum was left shocked when a thief stole her daughter's scooter and Christmas presents from her doorstep like a real-life Grinch.

Jenny Collins, a mother-of-two from Granton, Edinburgh, discovered that a man had sneaked into their stairwell to snatch the pink scooter and parcels. The incident, which took place around 7pm on Saturday, December 9 at a property on West Granton Road, was captured on her doorbell camera.

The footage shows a man in a black jacket, grey trousers and black cap lurking in the communal stairwell before leaving with a pink scooter and two parcels, which contained Christmas presents. His actions were similar to that of the famous green Dr Suess character 'The Grinch', who stole presents to ruin the holidays for others.

Jenny expressed her dismay, telling Edinbrugh Live: "It's upsetting that someone can do this to kids." She added: "They could have just taken the parcels and left. I wouldn't have been as bothered.

"I can claim them back. But stealing from kids is just vile and the lowest of the low." The mum also claims that "this isn't the first time that something has happened like this either".

She also hasn't told her daughter yet but says she will notice her scooter is gone when it's time to go to school.
