Smart will add the entry-level Pro version to the #1 line up
The new Smart #1 went on sale earlier this year from £35,950 and now Smart is looking to add a more affordable ‘Pro’ variant to its all-electric small SUV.
Already on sale in Germany, Smart has confirmed the Pro trim level will come to the UK although pricing is yet to be revealed. Given it costs just over £32,000 in Germany, we can expect it to be priced around the same to undercut the current cheapest Smart in the range, the #1 Pro+.
The #1 is Smart’s first car that was developed under Daimler-Geely ownership and marks the firm’s transition to an all-electric car maker – although there were previous all-electric Smarts with the EQ ForTwo and EQ ForFour.

There are currently four trim levels to choose from with the #1. Pro+ kicks things off, then there’s the £38,950 Premium which adds larger wheels and a panoramic roof, the £39,450 Launch Edition is limited to 100 examples in the UK and features a bespoke paint finish, and at the top there’s the performance-focused Brabus, which costs from £43,450.
All #1 models get a 62kWh battery and aside from the dual-motor Brabus, all come with a single-motor configuration. To cut costs, the Smart Pro gets a smaller 47kWh battery and as a result gets a 192-mile maximum range. The charging speed drops from 150kW to 130kW although Smart says it takes under 30 minutes for a recharge.
We can expect the new Smart #1 Pro to hit the UK market in spring 2024.
