The current iteration of the Chevrolet Camaro was the sixth-generation model which launched in 2016.
According to a media report, Chevrolet has wrapped up the production of its Camaro this week. The company confirmed to the media outlet that no new-gen Camaro is expected anytime soon.
Having said that, GM is yet to release an official statement or share any details of the final Camaro rolling off its assembly line.
The current iteration of the Chevrolet Camaro was the sixth-generation model which launched in 2016 and received a facelift in 2019. However, the Camaro nameplate has been on sale since 1967. Over the past 9 years, the current-gen’s ZL1 1LE variant stands out as the best performance car GM has ever made.
This is the second time the Chevrolet Camaro’s production has ended. The muscle car was out of production between 2003 and 2010, until the fifth-gen model was introduced. General Motors had previously mentioned that the sixth-gen iteration “is not the end of the Camaro’s story”. However, there are no details of any successor at the moment.
The Chevrolet Camaro’s two main rivals though continue to be on sale. The new 7th-gen Ford Mustang was recently unveiled, while the next-gen Dodge Challenger is currently in development and has been teased for a 2024 unveil.
