Suella Braverman sacked as Home Secretary
Gary Lineker took to social media to gloat over Suella Braverman’s sacking as Home Secretary.
The Match of the Day presenter shared a post by the Home Secretary on X, formerly Twitter, yesterday saying pro-Palestine protests “can’t go on”.
After she was fired by Rishi Sunak earlier today, the former England footballer responded with a waving hand emoji and said: “No, it can’t go on.”
It is Lineker’s latest dig at Mrs Braverman, who is a darling of the Tory right.
Earlier this month, he challenged her after she warned against a “hate march” on Remembrance Day.
Lineker also sparked a BBC impartiality row in March after he took to social media to slam the Government’s illegal immigration crackdown and compare language used to that of Nazi Germany.
He was responding to a video posted by the Home Office of Mrs Braverman discussing the Illegal Migration Bill.
New social media rules by the corporation in the wake of the row allow high-profile presenters outside of news and current affairs to express personal views on issues but they must stop short of political campaigning.

Mrs Braverman was sacked by the Prime Minister this morning following a controversial article last week criticising the policing of pro-Palestine marches.
She said: “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary.”
Ominously for Mr Sunak, she added: “I will have more to say in due course.”
Ousting one of the leading figures on the Tory right could pose difficulties for the PM as he seeks to get his party united behind him and ready for a general election expected next year.
