Rishi Sunak has been dealt a body blow by record low approval ratings just as rising star Kemi Badenoch has been tipped to replace him.
The revolving door of Conservative leaders could be spinning once more as polling for the Times shows just 20 percent of voters think the PM should be in charge.
The YouGov data is Mr Sunak’s worst performance since taking office and down five points in just a week.
Stubborn issues like high inflation, the migrant boat crisis, cost of living and NHS waiting lists have all been big ticket issues dogging the Tory leader for some time.
After Liz Truss’s disastrous 49-day premiership Mr Sunak, and his Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, had been seen as a safe pair of hands by many, but national and international social and economic crises have refused to go away.

With a General Election looming Labour leader Keir Starmer scored better, but not that impressively, in the polling, with 32 percent of voters thinking he would do a good job as Prime Minister.
Overall, just under half of those surveyed, 43 percent, said they couldn’t decide which of the two men would be best to lead the country.
But perhaps Tories might be better once again choosing a woman to lead them into the election fight, because rising star Kemi Badenoch has been given odds of just 4/1 to replace Rishi.
Alex Apati, of Ladbrokes, said: “It could be all change in Downing Street over the next 12 months or so, with Rishi Sunak priced dangerously short for a speedy Number 10 exit.”

Ms Badenoch’s rousing conference speech condemned Labour for only seeing the worst in Brexit and reminded delegates that Britain had outpaced France and Germany in recovery since the pandemic.
She also backed the decision to slow down Net Zero policies and is seen as many as a strong to-the-point politician who has already signed international trade deals.
Ms Badenoch, who is of Nigerian heritage, also told conference that Britain was the “best country in the world to be black”.
She said: “I tell my children this is the best country in the world to be black – because it’s a country that sees people, not labels.
“Conservatives want young people to be proud of their country when others want them to be ashamed.”
