A man suffered a harrowing death after falling into a sand pit which caved in on top of him.
Josh Taylor had been cooking a pig on a campsite with friends over the weekend when tragedy struck. The 25-year-old plummeted into a hole on Queensland's Bribie Island before being buried beneath 1.5m of sand.
The 25-year-old was rushed to hospital after onlookers frantically tried to drag him out with rope, with pals taking it in turns to perform CPR until paramedics arrived. He fought for his life for six days but his life support machine was switched off earlier this week with loved ones at his bedside, his close friends revealed.

In a statement, the family said Josh "fought as hard as he could and is the most courageous person we will ever know" who would be missed "every minute of every day," the Mail reports.
"Unfortunately, the injuries he received were too severe for him to overcome. We will somehow find a way to move on from this terrible tragedy."
Josh had fallen head first into a large hole he and his friends had dug to cook a pig, 7News reports. The horor unfolded infront of his own father who also tried desperately to get him out.
Witnesses described seeing him stand up from a chair and lose his footing before stumbling into the hole as the walls caved in on him.
One man said: "I realised someone was head first in a hole and I was just digging, digging, digging. When I first went up to the hole, I couldn't even see his foot. That's how deep it was."
More than 15 people joined the rescue attempt with efforts made to drag Josh out using rope but he "didn't budge," the witness said.
The force of being pulled out caused further injury to Josh.

"It was pretty gnarly when he popped out. I threw up,'" the witness added.
Speaking to media outside the hospital, Josh's uncle, Barry Taylor said: "'We're devastated – it's really been hard for us to comprehend what's happened to Josh."
He described him as a “vibrant” and “energetic” person who “loves the outdoors, fishing and camping."
The family statement added: "He was the best son, brother, boyfriend and mate we could all have wished for.
“We love you Josh and will miss you every minute of every day. Goodbye mate until we see each other again.”
