A Hamas military spokesperson claimed the terrorist organisation will execute an Israeli civilian hostage any time Israel targets Gaza without warning.
Abu Obaida, spokesperson for Hamas' armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, said they have been acting in accordance with Islamic instructions by keeping Israeli captives safe. But he chillingly warned they will begin executing hostages for any retaliation.
Obaida said: “We have decided to put an end to this and as of now, we declare that any targeting of our people in their homes without prior warning will be regrettably faced with the execution of one the hostages of civilians we are holding."

Despite the warning, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel has “only started” striking Hamas. Netanyahu has been serving as prime minister since December 2022.
Gaza City has been struck by airstrikes today. It is believed the attack was retaliation for the Hamas fighters crossing the border and attacking Israeli cities on Saturday (October 7).
In a video statement Monday, Israel's foreign minister Eli Cohen warned Hamas against harming any of the hostages who were taken from Israel and being held in Gaza. Stating it is “in the spirit of mutual responsibility.”

Cohen said: “We demand Hamas not to harm any of the hostages. This war crime will not be forgiven”.
More than 670 people were killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza and more than 3,700 others were wounded, its health ministry has said. While at least 900 people have been killed in Hamas attacks on Israel, Israeli media have reported.
Israeli rescue service Zaka said more than 100 bodies have been recovered from a small farming community that was the scene of a hostage standoff during Hamas’ attack. A large number of hostages are believed to have been taken by Hamas fighters over the weekend.

They are now reportedly being held in locations across Gaza. The publication added that footage has since been circulated of women being marched into vehicles. In the footage, they appeared to be bloodied and bruised, and their hands were bound behind their backs.
